Makeup is hands down my favorite beauty category. I can talk about all things blush, lipstick, and foundation in my sleep - that's how confident I am about my knowledge of the space. Still, there's a subcategory in cosmetics that continues to elude me: eye makeup. A few swipes of mascara is no big deal, but when it comes to eyeshadow, and even more particularly, eyeliner, I feel like a novice.
That being said, it's pretty rare for an eyeliner to catch my attention. However, when I saw the Danessa Myricks Infinite Chrome Pencils ($24) going viral, I was immediately intrigued. Countless TikTok users have been raving about how much the pencils have been enhancing their eye looks and garnering them compliments left and right. Even though I don't consider myself to be super well-versed in the eye category, I had to try this pencil for myself. Keep reading to see the chrome eyeliners in action and learn if they're worth picking up and adding to your makeup collection.
About the Danessa Myricks Infinite Chrome Pencils
- The pencils come in 10 shades, aptly named after gemstones like emerald, lilac quartz, and more.
- The pencils have a small micro-tip, and are intended to be used to create dimensional graphic eye looks.
- Each color has a duo-chrome shift, changing shades depending on the lighting.
- The pencil uses a twist-up mechanism to dispense the product.
What I Like About the Danessa Myricks Infinite Chrome Pencils
I chose the color Lilac Quarts because, as someone with brown eyes, I've always felt like purple makes them pop. I found the formula to be malleable enough to apply the product smoothly, but not too soft to where it would break every time I dragged it across my eye. I've used this pencil on my eyelids, as well as on my waterline, and I love that there's no pulling or tugging. The eyeliner stays on for hours (yes, even in the middle of summer) and makes a fantastic inner corner highlighter or accent shade for a more dramatic eye-makeup look.
How to Use the Danessa Myricks Infinite Chrome Pencils
This pencil is pretty straightforward to use. Start by twisting it up to where just a bit of the pencil is visible at the tip and apply it to your preferred area. I don't particularly like the look of a concentrated inner-corner highlighter on myself so I typically bring the color to about the first third of my eye, as I did here. Doing this made it much easier to see the chrome color shift in real-time without having to move your head too much or be in certain lighting.
What to Consider Before Buying the Danessa Myricks Infinite Chrome Pencils
If you are a makeup artist, you may run through this pencil very quickly - especially if you're using it on multiple people every day. There is .005 ounces of product in the pencil, which is not that much considering most a standard pencils contain roughly 0.4 oz. Additionally, the product dries quickly, so if you plan on blending it out for an eyeshadow look, I recommend being speedy with it so it doesn't set too fast on you.
