Ashley Tisdale is kicking off summer with a fresh haircut. On June 6, the actor posted on Instagram to unveil her new french-girl bangs, courtesy of hairstylist Buddy Porter. "In my French girl era," she captioned the gallery of photos. Tisdale kept the same medium-brown hair color she's been rocking as of late, but Porter snipped her long curtain bangs into feathery, eyebrow-skimming fringe. It's totally giving us flashbacks to Sharpay Evans from "High School Musical" - minus the blond color and tiaras, of course.
French-girl bangs, also referred to as simply french bangs, are shorter in the center of the forehead and longer as you reach the outer cheekbones. They frame the face, blend into the rest of the hair seamlessly, and work well with all hair lengths, types, and textures. Celebrity hairstylist Mara Roszak recently summed up the appeal of french-girl bangs, telling POPSUGAR, "They're meant to be less of a statement bang and more of an integrated, effortless addition to your look. . . . These are the most flattering versatile bangs of all." Recent adopters of the trend include Olivia Wilde and Jenna Ortega.
The bangs bandwagon is growing by the day, with stars opting for different iterations left and right. Cara Delevingne recently hit the red carpet with a shorter, choppier version of "Birkin bangs" that complemented the bob haircut she debuted back in April. Emma Stone also resurrected her soft, wispy bangs last month, and Dua Lipa popped up at the Cannes Film Festival with super-long curtain bangs.
