Christina Applegate paid a sweet tribute to her onscreen friendship at the Critics' Choice Awards on Jan. 15. At her first award show since her multiple sclerosis diagnosis, the "Dead to Me" star wore a dark turquoise manicure with gold nail art, created by Vanessa Sanchez, to match her chic black suit. While costar Linda Cardellini didn't attend the show, Applegate's daughter, Sadie Grace LeNoble, accompanied her mom to the ceremony in a matching outfit.
While seemingly a simple manicure, upon closer observation, the letter stickers read "Jen" and "Judy," which are the names of Applegate and Cardellini's characters in the Netflix series. Nominated for best actress in a comedy series, Applegate has previously spoken about how much their friendship, both on and off screen, means to her.
This isn't the first time the "Dead to Me" star has sent a message through her nail art. At her emotional Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in November 2022, she showed off a red manicure with white lettering that read "FU MS," a powerful jab at her diagnosis. "Christina told me that she wanted to make a literal statement with her nails," Sanchez previously told POPSUGAR.
